Seit neun Stunden wird GeoHots The iPhone Wiki nun kompromittiert von einem oder mehreren Unbekannten.
Was sich anfangs noch als einmalige Aktion, die sich schnell beheben ließ, darstellte, weitete sich im Laufe der letzten Stunden zu regelrechtem Spam aus.

Wie GeoHot mittels Twitt mitteilte, liegt das Jailbreak-Tool Blackra1n in einer RC2 für Windows und Apple-User vor.

Die Änderungen sollen beinhalten:

• Problembeseitigung beim Jailbreak des 3g
• Jailbreak für die neuesten Bootroms des 3.1 iPod/8GB OOTB und den neuen 3GS. Dieser JB ist aber wohl nur temporär und muss nach jedem Neustart des Gerätes wiederholt werden.
• Probleme mit Icy beseitigt

User, welche bereits mit Blackra1n RC1 erfolgreich einen Jailbreak durchgeführt haben, benötigen den RC2 nicht mehr.

Lt einem Post bei Twitter hat GeoHot mitgeteilt, das für das Jailbreak-Tool blackra1n morgen eine Update Version RC2 erscheinen wird.
Changelog für das Tool:
- iPhone-3G’s nun ohne Probleme beim jailbreak
- iPhone-3GS sowie ipt2 Unterstützung nachgearbeitet.
- iCy Probleme unter Blackra1n behoben.
Geohot hat für die neuen iPod Touch 2G und iPhone-3GS Geräte einen “tethered” Jailbreak entwickelt, leider muss hier bei jedem Neustart des Gerätes erneut gejailbreakt werden.

EDIT: DIE RC2 IST DRAUßEN

Zunächst kam die Meldung in seinem Twitter: ” Die beta Version wurde an die Tester versandt”. Jetzt teilt Geohot in seinem Blog mit, dass man mit dem Release von seinem Jailbreaktool bereits heute gegen 4:00 am EST rechen kann.

Was ist blackra1n? Blackra1n, so Geohot, ist ein 30 Sekunden Tool zum Jailbreak von allen iPhone und iPod Modellen mit der Firmware 3.1.2. Ganz dezent weist Geo auf die Möglich seine Arbeit durch eine Spende zu entlohnen, jedoch nur nach dem erfolgten Jailbreak.

Neben dem Dev-Team warnt nun auch Geohot ausdrücklich davor, über iTunes einen Update auf 3.1.2 auszuführen, wenn man auf den Software-Unlock via ultrasn0w angewiesen ist, es nicht möglich einen Downgrade des Baseband durchzuführen. Das heißt im Umkehrschluss, dass Geo es nicht gelungen ist, dass neue Baseband 05.11.07 zu entsperren.

Während wir den Post veröffentlicht haben,
wurde die Windows Version von blackra1n veröffentlicht http://blackra1n.com/

GeoHot ist nach eigenen Angaben bei twitter bereits mit dem letzten Anpassungen der Bedienoberfläche beschäftigt. Blackra1n soll den Jailbreak mit einer one-click Lösung ermöglichen. Wir berichteten hier schon darüber. Demnach müsste das Release Candidate schon in kürze zum Testen bereitstehen. Ebenso postete Geohot erste Photos des kommenden Blackra1n

Auf GeoHot wurde die neue Internetseite http://blackra1n.com registriert.

Blackra1n wird das neue Purplera1n werden;
so wurde es von GeoHot über Twitter angekündigt.
Wir berichteten schon drüber.
Es wird erwartet, das es in den nächsten Tagen regnet.

People have been accusing us of stealing geohot’s exploit. While he found it independently (we don’t know when), we certainly did not steal the exploit, but rather find it ourselves (pod2g/westbaer). Whether we or geohot discovered it first we do not know. All we can do is prove we have known about it for quite some time. The following text and it’s hash were posted on July the 11th on various pastebins, which proves we were aware of the existince of the particular exploit for ~3 months.
